JOBFirst Review of Applications will take place on May 23, 2022The City of Surprise Community Development Department seeks a self-motivated, solutions-oriented leader to join its team as Development Review Supervisor. The Development Services Division is the One-Stop Shop for development in the City of Surprise. The division works collaboratively with other city departments, residents, and the development community to ensure that the City of Surprise grows safely and efficiently for the benefit of its residents and businesses. A successful candidate will be organized, able to effectively handle multiple priorities, a team player, and committed to ongoing improvement and providing excellent customer service. If you are looking to have a positive impact in your community, then this is the right opportunity for you!SUMMARYPrimarily supervises activities of the Development Review Division within the department by assigning and monitoring work activities within the functional areas, providing technical assistance to staff, reviewing reports and other documents, interpreting policies and procedures, preparing staff performance appraisal, and solving internal concerns. Reinforces the customer service culture, supervises operations and field coordination among internal departments and stakeholders and recommendations for the department, reviews workload, projects, and advises of impacts on resources. Coordinates development activities with other departments and divisions such as Planning and Zoning, Building Safety, Finance, Public Works, and Fire-Medical.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAssociates degree in a related field and four years of directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as listed above.
