weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Float
Pool RN for a 13-week night shift contract in an acute care
setting, requiring ICU experience and the ability to float across
ICU, Med/Surg Tele, and PCU units on both campuses. Details - Float
Pool position covering ICU, Med/Surg Tele, and PCU units across two
campuses, including inpatients holding in the ED - West Campus
Med/Tele unit has 95 beds divided into 4 areas; West PCU Stepdown
has 14 rooms (double occupancy) with an average census of 20;
Med/Surg is organized into 10-room pods (double occupancy) - East
Campus is a smaller, similar setup with ICU and stepdown patients
in a 10-bed double-occupancy unit - Patient population includes
geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural cardiac patients, post-MI,
post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3–4 - Nurse-to-patient
ratios: PCU 1:4; Med/Surg Tele 1:5–6 - RNs are required to titrate
drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine,
Dobutamine, and Insulin - Respiratory equipment includes CPAP/BiPAP
in Med/Surg at night; BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU -
Telemetry monitoring is present in stepdown; monitor techs cover
PCU and Med/Surg Tele; RNs must be able to interpret cardiac rhythm
strips - Charting is performed in Cerner - 12-hour night shifts
(7p–7a), every other weekend required - Travelers are first to
float and must be flexible with scheduling; unit assignments are
communicated by text message approximately 2 hours prior to shift
start - The two campuses are approximately 20–25 minutes apart -
Standby/on-call may be assigned for shifts with excessive staffing;
travelers may be called in at any point during the 12-hour standby
period - Travelers will be included in the permanent staff holiday
rotation Requirements - Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license
required; must be active at time of consideration — pending
licenses are not accepted - Current BLS and ACLS certifications
required; pending certifications are not accepted - Minimum 2 years
of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in an ICU setting -
Proficiency titrating drips including Heparin, Cardizem,
Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin - Ability to
interpret cardiac rhythm strips required - Cerner EMR experience
preferred - Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
(permanent address as indicated on driver's license) - Candidates
must not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN
by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the
past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms
will be considered) - Driver's license required for consideration -
Two professional references required: one supervisor from within
the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last
3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for
rehire Additional Information - Responsibilities include caring for
ICU, stepdown, and Med/Surg Tele patients across both campuses,
including post-cardiac procedure care, groin site management, drip
titration, and respiratory support - Each unit has a charge nurse
who does not take a patient assignment; nurse aides are utilized
across all settings - Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia
exam with a score of at least 80% prior to contract confirmation;
two attempts are allowed - A pass/fail sterile technique test
(Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is
administered on the first day of orientation - Failing either the
Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on the second
attempt results in a 6-month DNU status for CommonSpirit facilities
in Arizona and the Sacramento, CA region - Orientation consists of
an 8-hour general hospital orientation day, a 12-hour shift at West
Med/Tele, and a 12-hour shift at West PCU - Schedule is published 6
weeks out in 4-week blocks; night shift will attempt to accommodate
block scheduling requests - Solid color professional scrubs are
currently required; navy scrubs per Dignity guidelines will be
