Job Summary
The Director of Policy Governance and Public Records is pivotal in
shaping and guiding district-wide policy governance practices. This
opportunity leads the development, implementation, and maintenance
of organizational policies and Administrative Regulations, ensuring
alignment with legal and regulatory standards. Additionally, the
director oversees the public records program, managing requests
accurately and efficiently while upholding compliance with public
records laws and retention schedules.
With a focus on transparency, accountability, and strategic
governance, this role involves policy analysis, records management,
and continuous process improvement. The Director of Policy
Governance and Public Records will work closely with internal
stakeholders, offering expert guidance on policy and
records-related matters, and will champion initiatives that
strengthen organizational governance and public trust.
This position is at the Maricopa County Community College District
Office in Tempe, AZ, and offers a hybrid work schedule that
includes in-person and remote work.
Essential Functions
50% - Provides district-wide leadership and guidance related to
policy governance, administrative regulations, and
procedures:
20% - Provides leadership and oversight related to public records,
including ensuring compliance with legal requirements related to
public records, and serves as custodian of public records for the
District:
20% - Manages projects related to the area of assignment, creates
project plans and timelines, provides updates to key stakeholders,
develops workflow processes, defines implementation roles and
responsibilities, and quantifies work volumes associated with
project work, develops and monitors attainment of strategies,
goals, and objectives:
10% - Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in
public policy, political science, legal studies, communications
(any discipline), public administration, technical writing, or a
related field and five (5) years of full-time experience working in
analysis roles pertaining to the development of policies,
procedures, and/or administrative regulations, which includes at
least two (2) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory
role.

An equivalent combination of education and/or full-time work
experience as described above, sufficient to successfully perform
the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless
otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or
regulation, may be considered.

Special Working Conditions
This position is located at the Maricopa County Community College
District Office in Tempe, AZ, and offers a hybrid work schedule
that includes both in-person and remote work.
Occasional travel to colleges and other sites may be required.
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a
computer monitor.
