position The Reconditioning Manager oversees all aspects of the
vehicle reconditioning process (mechanical, cosmetic and parts &
inventory) and directs at least five leads and up to 70 front line
associates in a lean manufacturing environment. The Reconditioning
Manager maintains a culture of continuous improvement and high
associate engagement while meeting quality, production, and cost
objectives.This is a 1st Shift position with a schedule of Monday
thru Friday 6am-3pm and is located at our Tolleson, AZ inspection
center (94th Ave & Lower Buckeye).What youll be doing
People Management (40%)
Ensure staffing levels are maintained
and that there is an adequate backup for each positionEnsure
progression path training and certification process is consistently
executedPromote teamwork through all levels of
associatesParticipate in the selection and hiring processTrain and
mentor leadsProvide competency-based feedback to leads and
associates
Standard Operating Procedures (20%)
Establish and recommend updates to
the standard operating procedures of the areaEnsure operating
standards such as standardized work, operating rules, 5S, and
visual management tools are consistently executedProduction
Management (20%)
Take action to determine the most
appropriate solution to the problemEnsure adequate production
capacity levels for each line and assist with production
planningIdentify problems either through reporting or direct
interaction on the shop floorEnsure compliance with all health and
safety and loss prevention guidelinesLeadership (10%)
Provide vision and guidance to the
reconditioning team in meeting performance metricsPositively
reinforce and engage the team regarding quality, production and
cost objectivesLive the Carvana valuesContinuous Improvement (10%)
Participate in and lead continuous
improvement effortsTrain and mentor associates on problem solving,
lead problem solving eventsOther duties as assignedWhat you should
have
Minimum of 5 years of management
experience either in automotive or a lean manufacturing
environmentA valid drivers license A clean driving record with no
more than two moving violations or DUIs in the last three
yearsKnowledge of lean manufacturing principlesProven track record
of leading and developing associatesProven ability to obtain
project deliverables and company metricsUnderstanding of the Toyota
Production System problem solving model is a plusAn ability to work
in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment while
sometimes being exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold)
Excellent oral and written
communications skillsAbility to work with and through teams to
achieve resultsStrong analysis and decision making
