About the Role The Graduate College seeks a motivated,
service-oriented person with great problem-solving and people
skills to join our team of Graduate Support Coordinators. This
position is responsible for coordinating graduate student support
functions and working with graduate support staff in academic and
administrative offices across the university. This position
primarily assists academic unit graduate student advisors, but also
works with academic unit heads, committee chairs, faculty, and
staff by answering inquiries, providing guidance on processes and
interpretation of policies, and resolving student and automation
issues. Essential Duties: Acts as a liaison between the Graduate
College and assigned academic unit graduate student advisors.
Initiates, develops, and sustains positive relations with graduate
directors and graduate support staff. Advises academic unit heads,
committee chairs, faculty, and staff on graduate student issues and
processes, including but not limited to: I nquiries regarding
program requirements Interpretation of policies Strategies to
assist student progress towards completion Review of petitions for
exceptions or changes; performs research and fact finding to ensure
a thorough understanding of the request Evaluates and analyzes
services related to document review and analysis, including foreign
transcripts and documentation Reviews and approves all graduate
student plan of study (iPOS) to ensure compliance with established
degree requirements including, but not limited to: coursework,
committee and culminating experience; identifies and resolves
discrepancies to ensure plan is consistent with program. Schedules,
leads and facilitates regular status meetings with academic unit
advisors; prepares informational materials and presentations,
responds to inquiries regarding policy interpretation and/or
exceptions. Provides training and customer service to graduate
support staff. Works closely with Graduate Support Coordinator, Sr
and Associate Director to develop ideas, concepts, and tactics
necessary to further understanding, support, and awareness of
complex issues. Develops recommendations for improving accuracy and
efficiencies. Reviews petitions for exceptions or changes to plan
of study to determine validity of request; as appropriate, requests
additional follow-up materials from unit to ensure request does not
compromise integrity of program; provides response to unit.
Provides analytical reports to academic unit advisors of activity;
works closely with analytics function to request ad hoc and/or
custom reports based on stated needs of academic unit advisors.
Reviews and processes forms and petitions for various processes
such as exceptions, changes to plan of study, and course change
requests. Works closely with Graduation Office during semester
close; works with academic units to obtain resolution of issues
preventing degree conferral by the Graduation Office. Reviews and
processes Masters in Passing request forms; verifies information
and updates student academic records to reflect achievement to
facilitate the completion of iPOS by students Reviews Course change
requests to ensure iPOS meets requirements, different categories
are correctly identified and reviews justification for change to
ensure ongoing integrity of degree and program. Researches,
prepares and implements special projects as assigned. Other duties

utilizing student support software such as PeopleSoft, WebXtender,
Salesforce, analytics, dashboards Demonstrated knowledge of the ASU
interactive plan of study (iPOS) Demonstrated knowledge of academic
programs, colleges and departments university-wide Experience in
rapidly adapting to new technology, practices, policies and methods
Experience presenting to groups Working Environment: Activities are
performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject
to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a
computer mouse; required to walk or travel moderate distances to
perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and
pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to
quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to
resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the
field within and/or across University campuses. Ability to clearly
