knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Job
Description: Under the administrative direction of the Lead
Employee Assistance Counselor, provides professional short-term
counseling services to faculty and staff and their spouses and
dependents with personal, family, career/work-related, and
behavioral health problems. Salary Range: $60,000-$64,000,
depending on experience Essential Duties: Provides the core
services for an internal EAP in a large urban University. Performs
assessment and evaluation, information and referral and crisis
intervention services to clients on a regular basis. Provides
consultation and training to supervisors, managers and
administrators. Monitors progress of clients and provides feedback
to both clients and administrators as needed while maintaining
client's confidentiality. Works closely with other employee campus
services including OHR Talent Development and and Office of General
Counsel. Coordinates and provides education and training to campus
organizations and employee constituencies. Conducts community
outreach and screening events. Coordinates insurance coverage with
eligibility of participants and performs case management when
appropriate. Participates on relevant committees, task forces and
work groups to provide the EAP perspective. Develops and maintains
close working relationships with community resources, health care
practitioners, and university/employee health care providers.
Serves as liaison with department and other campus offices and
programs. Desired Qualifications: Candidate must possess: Master’s
degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy
OR PhD in Psychology. A current Arizona Associate or Independent
license issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners,
or be eligible for Arizona licensure via reciprocity. One year of
experience in crisis counseling or case management, including one
year of supervised behavioral health counseling. (Equivalent
combinations of education and experience may be considered.)
Knowledge of the principles and practices of the core services of
an internal employee assistance program in higher education.
Knowledge of short-term mental health counseling procedures,
including clinical assessment and evaluation, information and
referral, and crisis intervention. Skill in consultation,
organizational development, and Human Resources policy and
practice. Skill in supervisory training, curriculum development and
outreach. Skill in coordinating health care providers and case
management. Knowledge regarding HIPAA and confidentiality related
to patient care. Skill in effective communication. Knowledge of
community resources. Working Environment: Location: Tempe campus 3
days per week, Polytechnic campus one day per week, remote 1 day
per week. Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled
office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding
and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for
varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
(10%). Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up
to 25 pounds (15%). Regular activities require ability to quickly
change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to
